Federal Electronics’ Hermosillo Facility Passes ISO 9001 and AS9100 Audit with Zero Findings
April 9, 2026

Federal Electronics, a leader in providing advanced electronic manufacturing services, announced that its Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico facility has successfully completed its latest ISO 9001 and AS9100 surveillance audit with outstanding results: zero major or minor non-conformances and zero observations.
The audit confirms that the facility continues to meet the strict requirements of both international quality management standards. ISO 9001 focuses on consistent processes, risk management, and continuous improvement across all operations, while AS9100 builds on those requirements with additional controls specifically designed for the aerospace, defense, and high-reliability electronics industries. These certifications require rigorous documentation, traceability, process control, and ongoing internal and external audits to ensure that products are manufactured to the highest standards.
“Completing this audit with zero findings speaks volumes about the discipline and attention to detail our Hermosillo team brings to every program,” said Ed Evangelista, President of Federal Electronics. “For our customers—especially those in aerospace and other high-reliability markets—it means they can count on consistent processes, full traceability, and the level of quality their products demand.”
For Federal Electronics’ customers, maintaining these certifications provides confidence that programs are supported by disciplined quality systems, well-controlled production processes, and full traceability throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This is especially important for companies operating in regulated industries where reliability, documentation, and compliance are critical.
Federal Electronics’ Hermosillo facility plays a central role in the company’s North American manufacturing network, offering proximity to key customers, a skilled workforce, and infrastructure designed to support demanding applications. The site recently added another PCBA production line, allowing customers to scale production within the same regional footprint while maintaining consistent processes, quality controls, and program oversight.
Established in 2010, the Hermosillo operation employs more than 350 professionals and provides cost-effective nearshore manufacturing for OEMs across the United States and Mexico. The facility is fully integrated with Federal Electronics’ headquarters in Cranston, Rhode Island, through a centralized IT and ERP system, ensuring aligned workflows, traceability, and quality standards across both locations.
“Adding this new PCBA line in Hermosillo gives our customers more room to grow while keeping their programs close to home,” said Ed Evangelista, President of Federal Electronics. “It’s about giving them flexibility and reliability without adding complexity.”
Founded in 1961, Federal Electronics provides cable assembly, wire harness, printed circuit board assembly, electromechanical integration, and system-level builds for OEMs with complex programs. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Cranston, Rhode Island, and Hermosillo, Mexico, supporting customers across industrial, medical, military, and defense markets.
